5* 3.
We were really impressed by a fantastic meal here about two years ago, but the concept has changed a lot since then. This time there was no amuse-bouche, just baguette. The cooking showed some skill, but every course lacked seasoning. For the price, the food was only adequate. The service was friendly, but neither skilled nor passionate, and poor for this kind of restaurant. We waited too long for everything, from getting the menu to receiving the bill, and plates were left uncleared. We were dining with our children, who each had a full-price main course, but both dishes arrived before our starters instead of with our mains. When we asked what we were eating, the explanation was vague and less detailed than the menu. The meal was okay, and compared with restaurants at similar prices, three stars is generous. For two adults having three courses each and two children having a main course each, the bill was €180. We won’t be returning.

A lovely hotel in a peaceful, natural setting, with quiet rooms. It’s 10 minutes from the city centre and 10 minutes from the highway, and the staff are super friendly. The hotel is next to a river, so mosquitoes are common in the area. I’d recommend adding mosquito screens to keep them out of the rooms in summer. We were there on Monday night, when the restaurant was closed, so we didn’t get to try dinner, though it sounded promising. Still a great location and hotel.

My father and I had lunch here yesterday, and every part of the meal was excellent. It was August and the restaurant was empty, but when we tried to book again for the weekend it was full, so I’d strongly suggest reserving, probably a week ahead. We ordered a kir royal, creamy chanterelle soup, bread with butter and paprika spreads, and wiener schnitzel. The drink was just right, the soup was hot with whole mushrooms and among the best I’ve had, and both the white and seeded breads were good. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and breaded, with four side dishes that went with it beautifully. The espressos, service, and price were all great too. We didn’t have wine, but for the starters and mains, two coffees, sparkling water, and an aperitivo, we paid 83€ and left pleasantly full. This beats the restaurant at the “Romantik hotel gravenberg” hands down in every way. English menus are available.

The garden has a cool feel, and the boutique hotel is lovely. It’d be perfect for a small wedding or event.

A calm, lovely place to stay, with really good food.
