The hotel has a nice retro feel and an ideal location, and our room had a balcony. But the bathroom setup ruined the stay for me. The toilet was behind a glass sliding door, frosted in places but with clear stripes and a huge gap between the door and wall. You could see every detail of the person using it. When I raised it with reception, the receptionist said all the rooms were like that and that the frosted glass was perfectly normal. There was no apology or offer of a solution. I asked for tape so I could try to attach a towel to the door, but she refused. I can't believe they didn't have a roll of tape. Luckily, we found a stationery shop and bought tape and black paper to get some privacy. I don't know who thought glass doors on hotel toilets were a good idea, and the way we were treated when we mentioned it was utterly unprofessional.

The breakfast was good and included typical Deutsch food, and the hotel has charm and a good location. Still, for the premium price and service, the stay fell short of what I expected. Our room was extremely warm during August's hot weather. There was no air conditioning, only two fans, and they were very loud. There were two beds placed in front of a door closed off for a family of four, which felt odd, and the bathroom was tiny, with space for only one person to stand. We also found candy paper behind the bedside table, and the kitchen sink wasn't working. With a heavy suitcase, there were no stairs to get up to the third floor.

The rooms are nice and spacious, and you get a view of Staufen castle. Breakfast wasn't as good as at their other Hotel Lowen.
