The service is what really made our stay. When I checked out, I thought our American Express prepayment had covered the bill, so I was puzzled when the receptionist gave me a total. A gentleman, who I assumed was the manager since he was around each day, came over and repeatedly said they’d check and make sure I wasn’t charged twice. They couldn’t find a prepayment, so I paid, and he told me several times to email if I had been charged already so they could refund me. He seemed more concerned about my money than I was. It turned out I hadn’t prepaid after all, and they were right. Everyone was exceptionally kind, and the restaurant served high-quality food with obvious pride. My wife and I stayed two days on our way to Munich, and we couldn’t have been happier. The rooms were very clean and decorated with a strong theme, which may just be the style, haha, we’re American. It’s a great way to enjoy a Bavarian/Franconian feel close to Rothenburg while getting out of the city rush. Worth every penny, and deserving of all five stars.

The staff are attentive and clearly keen to help, and they make sure the 2-3 electric car chargers are shared fairly when several guests want them. You can arrange access with reception. The rooms have an older style, though they aren’t especially worn, and they’re impeccably clean. There’s a lot of history to the brewery on the hotel grounds, and you can have a fantastic local beer brewed in the neighboring building. The restaurant and beer garden serve excellent food, and breakfast is available too. It’s a charming little hotel, only five minutes from the A7.

The food was a pleasant surprise, fresh and well prepared, and breakfast turned out to be worth staying for too. We’d stopped spontaneously while driving through southern Germany in our camper van. After calling ahead, we were able to spend the night for free behind the brewery. Having dinner at the restaurant was a must.

We stopped for lunch during our drive and ate on a lovely shaded patio. The menu had lots of choices, and we ordered liver and a vegetarian dish. The hotel looks lovely, and customers kept coming in regularly without it feeling too busy.
