We found it comfortable, with plenty of room, and the hosts were friendly. It also makes a good base for exploring the area nearby.

We stayed for just one night, and the idea behind the place seemed thoughtful. Still, so much of it felt unfinished: the kitchen had no countertop, several bathroom tiles were loose, the wallpaper was coming away, and the baseboards weren't secured. At first we assumed it was new and work was still underway. But the cobwebs over the bed and mold in the bathroom made it seem this had been going on for a while.

We left the room because it was so dirty and unfinished. The bathroom had a lot of mold, tiles were loose, and the sofa was stained. Before we could even get in, we waited 45 minutes for the owner to come show us the room. We weren't refunded, and instead got a brazen threat of legal action. Charging this price to rent out the place is shameless and outrageous. I don't understand the good reviews.

Struppen worked well as a base for the sights nearby, with Dresden about a 30-minute drive and Prague an hour and a half away. We spent New Year's Eve here, and the apartment was modern and stylish, with a well-equipped kitchen and parking right by the door. It's a quiet spot in the heart of Saxon Switzerland. The owners live in the same building, were friendly and easy to reach, and communication was excellent. There are plenty of sights around, and we'd love to come back. I highly recommend visiting.
