We paid €70 for one night and weren’t expecting luxury, just a clean, safe room where things worked. Instead, the attic room at Hotel Krone was filthy, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and had no air conditioning or fan. It was 35°C outside and felt like 45°C inside. The blinds were moldy, there was an exposed lightbulb, no smoke alarm, and only two holey towels, with no hand towels or bath mat. The TV didn’t work, and its remote had one battery and no cover. This wasn’t even the hotel we booked. We reserved Wiesbadener Hof in Stuttgart, but three hours before check-in they told us to go to their partner hotel, Hotel Krone, supposedly because of a water problem. The receptionist there didn’t know about our reservation until he called the other hotel. When we asked for a fan, he said he couldn’t do anything and told us to call his boss ourselves. He also asked us to leave reception so he could shower. The receptionist was unfriendly and unhelpful, and the whole situation felt unacceptable. Booking.com should remove this hotel until these problems are fixed. No guest should have to deal with this.

I got the date wrong when booking Hotel Krone Bad Cannstatt, but the team, run by kind and professional Indian staff, really helped me out. They rearranged things and found me a room without charging extra. That sort of hospitality made me feel welcome and is rare anywhere. They made Germany great again, one guest at a time. Thanks for the generosity and service. I’ll be back!

It wasn’t a good stay. The internet didn’t work, and the bed was so uncomfortable that my husband and I both woke with horrible cramps. They charged us 55 after quoting 45 over the phone. Parking was awful too, so expect to spend a while searching for a spot.

The rooms were clean and breakfast was good. Getting in late was easy, too: there’s no night reception, just a code for the key box so you can collect your key yourself. Our room was on the top floor, and with no elevator it was quite a haul carrying our luggage and motorcycle boxes. There’s no secure bike parking, so you have to leave it on the street.

The room was very cold, and even with the heat turned all the way up, so was the bathroom. Breakfast was the usual European kind, with no hot dishes. The room itself was small but had what you need, though there were very few outlets and I had to unplug a light to charge my phone. It’s generally okay for one night if you’re really tired. There are several places to eat nearby, and the U-Bahn station is about a three-minute walk.
