Jorg runs the place and seems to do just about everything, from welcoming guests and handling reception to cooking. The evening meals are well made, fairly priced German favorites, with a few specials too. The hotel is a family-run spot in a small hamlet, and it makes a good starting point for walks or cycling. The rooms are modern and clean.

The meeting room has a lovely view over Brachfeld and the chapel, and the restaurant has a fresh new look. The food was nicely prepared, and the staff were very kind and willing to help with whatever we needed.

The dining room felt sterile and not very inviting. I didn’t eat there, so I can’t say anything about the food. My room was also poorly soundproofed: I could hear every call and noise from next door, even from the bathroom. The furnishings were modern and seemed fairly recently renovated, but the room had no bin, fridge, or paper towels in the bathroom. At 110 EUR for a single room without breakfast, the price felt completely out of line with the quality. I stay in a lot of hotels, and this didn’t compare to what I’d expect at that price.

The hotel itself was okay, and the owner was cheerful and friendly. It’s quite remote, though the drive over the mountain pass is beautiful and exciting. The online description mentions a lovely inn serving good food, but unfortunately that attached inn is no longer there.
