Apartments Hotel Stadt Hamburg

We were a group of runners from Hamburg and needed somewhere to leave our heavy belongings before heading out for a run around the island. The train station had no facility for that, so we called this hotel to ask if they could help. They agreed right away and insisted they wouldn’t take any money for it. Before and after our run, we were struck by how friendly all the hotel staff were.

We had a beautiful lunch at the Bistro, with gorgeous food and drinks in memorable surroundings. The staff were discreet and very friendly. The hotel itself feels romantic and made our visit to Westerland/Sylt extremely satisfying. 10/10 🌊💜❤️🔆💯

The staff and service were really nice, and I understand the traditional look, especially with renovations apparently planned. Still, the place feels genuinely old-fashioned, and at these prices I expected the quality to match the experience. Breakfast was €29, though with COVID there was no buffet, just basic items. The bread wasn't fresh and the croissants seemed reheated or overbaked. There wasn't even Eggs Benedict, so it was hard to see what justified the price. Cafe Wien is a three-minute walk away and gave me much better quality for a fraction of the cost. The bathroom products were another letdown. For this price I'd expect above-average toiletries and empty bottles replaced daily. I shouldn't have to make a tiny bottle of mediocre shampoo last five days. The delivery was exceptional, but the product itself felt subpar for the money. Charging this much raises expectations, then serves mediocrity.

We had a really good dinner at the Bistro in Westerland, then ended the evening at the bar with some excellent drinks. A very distinctive place with a special atmosphere.
