The location is appealing: the lake and Tegernsee center are a ten-minute walk away, the station is two minutes away, and several restaurants are nearby. The outside of the building, though, looks very old and unwelcoming. The Panorama apartment has some odd features. There’s no living room, just a dining room with a kitchenette and a TV mounted above the refrigerator. That room has no window or heat, and stays so dark that even with the bedroom doors open you need a light, including on sunny days. With the doors shut and the lights off, it feels like a crypt. It has two bedrooms, but I can’t see how four adults could comfortably stay there. The listing says there’s a stereo with radio and CD player, but what’s actually there is a clock radio. Cleaning also seems superficial between guests. The pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils are in such poor shape that I wouldn’t want to use them, and the cupboard has spices that expired two years ago. The positive reviews strike me as suspicious, since many give top marks without any comment. The first reviewer having the same name as the landlords is surely just a coincidence.

We’ve been returning for years and always enjoy our stays. The holiday apartment is lovely, and the landlords are super friendly. Highly recommended.

My single room had a small kitchenette, so preparing my own food was easy. The hosts are friendly and bring 40 years of experience, and they’re generally booked well ahead. You can pay by card, and everything else is within walking distance.
