Acron Traben-Trarbach

The room was very clean, which mattered most to us, and the staff were genuinely friendly and doing their best with what seemed like limited resources. We spent two nights at the Acron hotel and enjoyed our stay, though some things could use attention. I hope the owner and workers have success with the renovations ahead. I'd visit again if I'm in the region.

The owner was very welcoming, and breakfast was tasty, especially the phenomenal coffee. This is a cute place, decorated with antiques and vintage clothes and shoes, and the rooms are comfortable. I'm a light sleeper, so I'd bring earplugs. Dogs are allowed, too. There isn't a road or trekking bike path to the Mosel River, and parking can be awkward if other guests take up too much room. The hotel is at the base of a mountainside, with marked hiking trails across the street and technical single-track mountain biking nearby.

The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us happy. Our room and bathroom were both spacious and clean, and breakfast had a good range of hot and cold choices. A little more bread or crackers would have been nice. The hotel is in a quiet setting, though the building and rooms feel dated and could use a makeover. I believe some rooms were being renovated.

I have a lot of memories of this place from the late 60s and 1970-72, when Herr und Frau Liberman owned it. I often stayed in rooms just above the dance floor, and it felt like being part of the family. The food and dancing were great, and the rooms were nice and clean. There was a secret door to a bar in a room at the very back, and I helped bring wine and beer from Keller across the bach/river. Many nights we danced in the main room under the rotating ceiling ball. In 1972, I danced the first set with the Mossell River Queen for faushing. I'll add a hand-painted picture from back then.
