Karolingerhof

We stayed three nights at the Karolingerhof and would gladly return. The hosts were friendly and helpful without hovering, and we felt welcome. The hotel relies on electronic systems to keep staffing to a minimum, but whenever we needed help, a person was there. It’s a peaceful base for exploring the Moselle area: quiet, yet only a short walk from the river and town center. The grounds are beautifully kept and have a relaxed feel. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Breakfast was wonderful, and since the hotel serves breakfast only, we found plenty of nearby restaurants and wine gardens for dinner. The garden, nearly the size of a small park, was a highlight, especially for sitting out with wine in the evening. There’s a fridge of local wines to help yourself to, with payment at departure. My one suggestion would be a larger snack selection, perhaps bread and cheese to go with the wine. That would have been enough for us in the evening and let us stay at the hotel. We highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay in this lovely part of Germany.
