Holiday Inn Express Köln-Troisdorf by IHG

Breakfast was okay, and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff member, a man around 45 working on 29/10/25 at about 16:00, was unfriendly. Our room was small, and the extra bed had a thin mattress. There was also a lot of outside noise, possibly from the autobahn. They charged 15€ for outdoor parking shared with a restaurant, despite a sign saying “free parking.” You can park just around the corner.

I forgot to take photos, but the room was spotless and really comfortable. The shower pressure was great, and the towels were very comfortable too. The breakfast area is handy for working or having a quiet chat throughout the day, as long as everyone keeps it clean and is respectful.

The room was small but clean, and we had no complaints about it. What made the night rough was the restaurant downstairs, which isn’t part of the hotel, playing loud music until 2 AM. On the second floor it felt like we’d booked a room in the nightclub. At breakfast, the crowd was so big we had to queue just to get a table. Parking cost €15 too. If you need to sleep, bring industrial-strength earplugs.

The breakfast was okay, but we had noise outside all night because the room window wouldn’t close. Worse, our car was towed by the neighbouring restaurant’s company even though we’d booked and paid for a parking space for 8 days. The signs from the hotel and restaurant made it completely unclear which parking belonged to whom. The hotel knew about the neighbours’ strange towing practices but didn’t warn us or help. The receptionist later said this happened frequently. Our car ended up 15 km away in Koln, and we had to pay for an expensive taxi and a huge fee to the aggressive towing company to get it back. The hotel did nothing to prevent it, and the whole experience was unpleasant and unexpected. Totally unacceptable.
