PLAZA INN Ulm

Check-in was a mess because nobody was at reception, and the keys didn’t work. There was no one around to help, so you have to call a number. They tell you someone will call back, but they never do. I stayed for two nights and had the same problems both times.

The lobby has a chic, modern look, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and had all the essentials. I was there for one business night, travelling alone, and had plenty of space. The decor felt warm and inviting, with contemporary design that I liked. Soundproofing could be better, particularly if two people are sharing. The hotel is on the outskirts, so it’s not ideal if you want to be right in the city centre. Breakfast was tasty and satisfying. I’d readily recommend it for its cleanliness and comfort.

I won’t be staying here again. The price is too high for what you get, especially the parking, which really shouldn’t cost extra. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and you have to leave before 11:00 AM, yet they charge 30 EURO if you arrive just two hours early. Pay and you can get in, otherwise you wait until 3:00 PM. It feels like highway robbery. The hotel is a bit far from the centre, and during the week you may hear tram noise if you’re not used to it. You can also hear the front door closing if you have sensitive neighbors. The heating barely worked when I turned it on.

For a solo business trip, the room was spacious enough, and it was nicely decorated with a warm feel. I liked the modern design. The soundproofing is a little poor, though. The hotel is quite far out of town, so it doesn’t feel like a good base for a city trip.
