The breakfast was excellent, and the front desk staff were really friendly. The room, though, was very basic: no toiletries like shampoo, and the old mattress was uncomfortable. There wasn't a kettle, but someone at reception lent me one. A nice place overall, just with a very simple room. I also missed having soy milk, which many places now offer for people who don't have dairy.

Alter Hof was packed when I stopped in for an early Friday dinner, but I was lucky enough to get a table. The beer was great, the food filling, and the service prompt.

I've been here quite a few times, and the service has generally been slow, especially when I'm on my own. Today was much worse: two groups were seated ahead of me as if I wasn't even there. I'm very disappointed. You guys suck, and I won't be back or tell anyone else to go.

The beer garden was the highlight of our stay at Alter Hof. We had a wonderful meal and beer there. The room was clean and adequate, and parking was free. We picked this place in 2019 on our first trip to Germany because it cost less than staying in Munich. The welcome at reception was kind, and they let us check in early. It was about a 10-minute walk to the train station. I'd love to come back on another trip to Munich.

The food is good and reasonably priced. They also have a nice Biergarten open in the warmer seasons.
