Arcus Hotel München Messe

Breakfast was the best part of our stay: a generous buffet with sweet and savory choices. We had another seven hours of travel ahead, so I made four small rolls with a slice of ham and cheese in each to take with us. Half an hour later, a man at reception, probably the owner, said they'd seen us take them and would charge us for a packed lunch at checkout. I never expected to be watched and asked to pay for four little sandwiches at a four-star hotel where we'd paid 300 euros for two rooms. I left angry at the arrogance. Never again. We stayed one night in September 2024, before Oktoberfest, as a family of four. I'd chosen Arcus Hotel for its good online reviews, four-star rating, family-run feel, location near the highway, and the ad's promise that guests would feel at ease. I wasn't interested in the SPA, but parking and breakfast were included in the 300 euros we paid in advance, with no refund possible. The two superior rooms on the ground floor didn't meet expectations for cleanliness or how guests were treated. One room had two body creams instead of a cream and soap. The owner brought soap within minutes after I asked, but blamed the cleaning lady instead of taking responsibility. It was late, so I let the attitude go. Later we saw the bathroom wasn't really clean: the sink overflow and the area under the plug were very dirty, beyond what seemed like a day or two of neglect. I figured the owner might blame the cleaning lady again, so I let that go too. There was no mechanical air conditioning or air exchange system, just a fan and an open window. We were exhausted after seven hours on the road and fell asleep without noticing anything else.

The staff were amazing, polite, and so comfortable to deal with. Our room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, and we got two locally made beers as a checkout gift. Breakfast was superb, especially the eggs they made just the way we asked. Parking on site is free, and there's a nice restaurant across the street. It's all very close to the highway. I loved staying here and would happily come back and recommend it.

We were left out on the street despite having paid and received confirmation that our dog could come. I booked two months ahead and checked that bringing my dog was allowed; the hotel said yes. But at check-in, they told me dogs couldn't be left alone in the room. We were in town for a concert that was about to start, and the owner insisted we leave immediately. The manager was kind and understanding, but the whole situation was unacceptable. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had, completely unprofessional and unreliable. I wouldn't recommend using this hotel. Even with an email confirming your stay and permission to bring a pet, you might be told something different on arrival.

The breakfast was good, and the location was fine, quiet and between the airport and the city. But the place was horrible, and the woman who greeted us late in the evening was angry and gave us a bad attitude. She said the baby bed cost an extra 15 euros. After two weeks of vacation, nobody else had charged extra for a baby bed. The mattress was horrible too. I'm a PT, and I'd say don't.
