The view alone makes it worth a stop, and the afternoon shade was lovely. I came for drinks one day and returned for dinner a few days later. The meal I actually ordered was delicious, and everyone enjoyed their food. There was a mix-up and I was served a dish I hadn't ordered; since the kitchen was closing, they offered me a drink instead of removing the dish or half of it from the bill. I only wish dinner service ran later. Even on Friday, the kitchen closed at 7:30 pm. I'd definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

The terrace is hard to beat: the Weser River is right there, beside the ferry landing, and there's plenty of space. Weigands Hotel Peter has a restaurant with hearty German classics and seasonal dishes. The herring selection was unexpectedly broad, and my cycling companion liked the different schnitzels. Portions were tasty and filling, with prices still reasonable, though the kitchen's last orders are at 7:30 pm. We also enjoyed a varied, good-quality breakfast and the hotel coffee, which was flavorful rather than weak and a good deal at €12. This family-run place sits in a prime spot on the Weser, looking across to the Veckerhagen ferry. Cyclists are welcome, with a secure, easy-to-reach garage and e-bike charging. The building has a sense of history, while the rooms felt spacious, very clean, and barely worn. Inside, the style is rustic and traditionally German, with tasteful home decor tucked into all the corners. You can tell the owner has put a personal touch into it. We were very happy with the value for money. I'll return for another short break in the Weser region, this time with my wife.

I booked a room overlooking the Weser River and the ferry, and watched the activity from my balcony. I was there from October 3rd to 5th, 2025, and everything was just right: the room, breakfast, and food. The rump steak I had was very good. I'd gladly come back.
