Coffee Fellows Hotel Steigerwald Süd

They charge €115 a night, but the shower had no water pressure, there was one pillow, no coffee, and the room was tiny. The rest area closes at 9:30 p.m., too. We chose the hotel for its location, but the stay turned into a nightmare. Our Fiat Ducato L3H3, 2.55 m, couldn’t pass the 2.5 m barrier. Nobody was allowed to open it or help, even though the parking lot was completely empty, so we had to leave the van in the truck parking area, which was full and felt unsafe. Total rip-off. Never again.

The rooms were clean and modern, the bed was very comfortable, and outside noise was blocked well, so I got a good night’s sleep. This hotel works well for a single night on a road trip. It’s next to a standard Serways service station, so that’s what you can expect, along with a hotel. We arrived very late, at 1:30 am, to find the parking lot empty. For check-in we had to walk back to the petrol station, and with road works there were no footpaths, which was inconvenient. Breakfast was at the Serways station next door. It wasn’t clear what was included, and we seem to have picked something else from the buffet, but the attendant only charged us for breakfast, which was a good fix. The food was okay, neither especially good nor bad.

There’s some noise, though that comes with a motel. A nice perk is that you can borrow their charging card with a 50 EUR deposit and charge your car overnight for free. The two chargers don’t show up on Google or other charging apps. They’re only 11 kW.

You enter the hotel from the Esso Gas Station, about 300-400 meters away. Since the rest facility beside the hotel is closed, you have to buy whatever you need at the market there. I’d booked a large single bed but got a room with two separate single beds, and couldn’t change rooms because there was no reception available to sort it out. The TV only had German-language channels, and the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect to the internet. You can park for free in an open lot 500 meters away.
