The balcony view of Lake Edersee was really nice, and the apartment was clean with everything we needed. The furniture is a little dated, but we liked its 60s/70s charm. Our contact person was always available. The underground garage is very cramped and crowded, and could use some lighting, though it’s still great to have parking there. Thanks, we felt very comfortable.

The stay on the peninsula was great, but the accommodation was a complete flop. The location is close to Lake Edersee, but location alone can’t make up for a place in such bad shape. After 30 minutes of searching, we found the owner didn’t seem interested in the guests or property. There was no greeting, and nobody answered the phone despite our attempts. We eventually got the keys and a map. Having a parking space was nice, but the light there was so poor that I chose to park outside. The problems started with the filthy stairwell on the way to the accommodation. In the living room, the bed was broken, with snapped slats and a bent frame. The mattresses were uncomfortable, and the pillows and duvet weren’t great either. One lamp had a loose connection, which was a real joy when the fuse blew. The table was damaged, and the lampshade beside it was broken too. That’s cosmetic, but still not nice. There’s also a hole in the courtyard, just waiting for someone to miss it, trip, and fall in. The adjoining room is old and smells like grandma and grandpa’s house. It could use some airing out and air freshener, and the furniture is worn. The kitchen faucet has only cold water and leaks for about 15 seconds. I’ve never seen anything like it. The TV is from the early flat-screen days. At least it’s enclosed, but a more modern, lower one would be nicer. We were out and about for a few days, but when the weather doesn’t cooperate or it’s evening, you still want to feel comfortable. The neighboring youth hostel made the whole experience worse. If you’re charging high prices, everything should be up to date and, above all, in working order. It’s a real shame. For a good meal, we recommend the pizza place “Pizza auf Schade” (or something like that) by the large parking lot. It’s cheaper and tastes better than MUN. The “Lorelei” trail is also worth a look, but wear sturdy shoes.
