I had a spacious, bright single room with a day bed, desk, wardrobe, and private toilet, and was more than happy with it. The bathroom was shared, which I usually prefer to avoid, but it was surprisingly clean and good quality. Breakfast was included, and I was impressed by both the amount and quality of the food and drink. The hotel itself is lovely, clean, and traditional without feeling old fashioned, a good fit for a small German town on the edge of the Hertz mountains. I’ve stayed in Walkenried many times, but this was my first time at Klosterhotel. Booking directly through its website cost less than the usual agent options, and the hotel’s email replies were prompt and helpful. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone.

The rooms each have their own lovely theme, and the setting is really pleasant. We were lucky to stay here for a rehearsal weekend. The owner was a great cook and host, and the staff were friendly and capable. Thanks for such a wonderful weekend.

We booked easily and without any hassle, and the owner and staff were friendly and always ready to help. Our group of 28 stayed at the Klosterhotel Walkenried for two days and was thoroughly looked after. The buffet was nicely arranged and had something for everyone. The owner also prepared both hot lunches and dinners with care, and the food tasted wonderful. We felt right at home and would love to come back.

The breakfast was lovely, with oat milk and vegan choices available for people with allergies. In the evening, we could get drinks from the fridge and sit out on the terrace. I stayed one night over the weekend, had a cute little room to myself, and got a very friendly welcome. I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel is cozy and the welcome is very friendly. It’s a great base for hiking and cycling, though unfortunately a lot of places in town have closed.
