Top notch.

The owner was friendly, and the location makes a good base for trips around the area. Breakfast was adequate, and €9.50 per person seemed fair. The room itself was an okay size, though the bathroom was very small. We paid €75 for a double room in April, which didn’t feel fully justified because cleanliness fell short in the room, bathroom, and breakfast area. There were dark hairs all over the bathroom, crumbs on and especially under tables in both the room and breakfast room, plus cobwebs on the ceilings and walls.

We felt very comfortable here. The hostess was friendly, happy to give us tips, and readily helped with requests. It was peaceful, but also a handy base: by car, we could easily get to our hiking spots for full-day outings.

We stayed here while visiting Manderscheid for the via ferrata, about a 20-minute drive away. "Zum Brubbel" is within walking distance, too. This is a simple country guesthouse, but the little extras are thoughtful: there’s a common room to sit in and a fridge with Bitburger beer and plenty of other drinks at cost price. Chips, nuts, sparkling wine, and wine are available as well. The rooms are clean and well laid out, breakfast is plentiful, and the hosts are very friendly.
