Ibis Budget Berlin Airport Schoenefeld

I left at 1am and checked into the Moxy down the road. It was €10 more, and the room was in a completely different league. Before that, this was the worst hotel experience I can remember: the room was filthy, smelled of smoke, and had bed bugs. The bathroom looked like it belonged in a prison, and the thin mattress was dirty with hairs and crumbs. There’s nothing redeeming about this place. Plenty of nearby hotels cost barely more and are a million times better. Sleeping on an airport bench or at the nearby MacDonald's would have been cleaner and more pleasant. Do yourself a favour and don’t come here. I wouldn’t wish this place on anyone.

It’s a good hotel for what it claims to be, and I’d recommend it for a cheap getaway or to fill a gap between flights. The drawback for me was the travel back and forth to central Berlin and the timing involved. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The parking was the main reason I’d give it two stars. We booked for three people but only found two pillows; we told the hotel, and nothing was done. The rooms are tiny and worn down, with the sink outside the bathroom and an uncomfortable little toilet and shower. Breakfast had very few options. It’s a budget hotel, but it wasn’t any cheaper than other budget places, and it was simply bad.

No one was on duty, and nobody answered the number posted in the lobby, so I left in the middle of the night. The rooms feel like prison cells, and there were lots of bedbugs. This is the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It’s shocking that this is legal in Germany. It should be shut down.
