Weingut Meintzinger

As an architect, I really noticed the attention to detail. The old buildings' materials work so well with the contemporary additions, and the place feels authentic, shaped by its history. I have nothing but compliments for my visit to Hotel / Weingut Meintzinger. The friendly staff, delicious wine, beautiful interior, and Frickenhausen itself made my time in Germany hard to beat. Philipp Meintzinger and his family were especially hospitable, and Emma, the Australian Shepherd, was making her rounds to check that everything was running smoothly. I highly recommend this unique place, in a community full of wonderful people.

I really enjoyed the wine, and we bought a few more bottles to take home. Tasting it in the lounge was a pleasure. The historic building paired with its top-notch contemporary design made for a memorable stay. We'd come back.

It was a nice Weingut, with lots of different wines to try at the downstairs bar and in the tasting area. The restaurant was closed because of Covid-19, and breakfast was ordinary, though the service was very friendly. The room got hot in the summer, so I ended up taking cold showers to cool off. When I left, they mentioned they had a fan, but that hadn't been clear to me. Better guidance would have helped.

We had a large, spacious suite with a separate bedroom, and it was lovely to come back at the end of the day, open the window, and relax on the couch to the sounds of town. The hotel has a grand feel, with an imposing lobby and lots of little hallways and staircases leading to the rooms. Upstairs on the second floor, there's a beautiful balcony where you can enjoy the sun in warmer months. My girlfriend and I spent two nights at Weingut and Hotel Meintzinger while traveling Germany's Romantic Road. Its location was a highlight: Frickenhausen is a lovely little town, just a short drive from Wurzburg, and getting to and from the hotel was easy. With so many restaurants nearby, we didn't need to go far for food or something to do. The staff were all friendly and helped us plan visits to smaller nearby towns and other interesting tourist sites. Breakfast was well done, with quite a few choices, and I'd recommend sitting on the balcony if the weather's nice. We're not wine drinkers, but there are options to taste and buy wine at the hotel if you're interested. I'd recommend Weingut and Hotel Meintzinger for a romantic, luxury stay while visiting Wurzburg or traveling the Romantic Road.
