I won’t book apartment 12 again. It costs far too much for what it is. There’s a bit of a sea view, but that seems to make it much more expensive, even though the tiny balcony is neglected, the shower is old and dirty, and the bed is far too low. The room is very small for two people. Wi-Fi ought to be standard these days, but there’s practically no signal in the room. It feels like a way to make a lot of money from a poorly equipped apartment.

I had a really relaxing stay and was very satisfied. The apartment had everything I could need, and the balcony gave us a pretty good view of the North Sea. It’s very close to the beach promenade.

The apartment is small and basic, and might be fine in summer, but in its current condition it’s unsuitable from autumn through spring. The heating wasn’t working, and the room was 15 degrees Celsius when we arrived. No one mentioned the problem when we picked up the key, despite the defects in Mr. Michaelis’s review three weeks earlier and the landlord’s response promising improvements. A small backup heater eventually warmed the main room after two days, but it doesn’t seem fit for that job: its plastic handle was visibly warped and charred. The convector heater works like a toaster, putting out very dry, burnt air. Watery eyes and a scratchy throat were inevitable. I transferred the invoice amount on the stated payment date, with the value date that same day, yet a payment reminder or dunning notice arrived shortly afterward. The landlord’s motto seems to be “Collect rent instead of renovating/repairing.”

Apartment 12 has plenty of electrical outlets and the things you need, but there’s room for improvement. The wfv website gives it four shells, though I’d rate it no more than 3.5. There’s mold in the shower and on the floor, and the bathroom renovation feels half-hearted. wfv needs to deal with that. The TV is much too small for my taste, though that’s personal preference. The bed is an okay size, but too low for older people, and its mattress is far too hard. There’s no smoke detector. The bathroom light switches don’t work properly and should be replaced, since they could catch fire from sparks. Wi-Fi should be standard, especially with a telephone connection there.
