Yachthafenresidenz Hohe Düne

It's a bit pricey, so be ready to spend quite a lot, but the facilities are amazing. The place feels like a little island, with several buildings, restaurants, and bars all belonging to the same hotel. We booked a balcony room with a sea view, and the view was really great. The breakfast menu was big and amazing. There were several temperature-controlled pools, a jacuzzi inside the pool, and a large sauna. If you're after a quiet, luxurious, relaxing vacation, this is the place.

Everything was prepared well, and the stay was relaxing, just as I expected. The spa center was comfortable, though I thought it was a little overpriced.

The hotel has a nice design and the rooms were clean, but that was about all we liked during our family Christmas stay. Service was unfriendly, slow, and disorganized from the booking right through checkout. The staff seemed mostly to be grumpy trainees, and their German and English didn't seem very strong, which understandably made good service harder. Arranging our group booking for six suites was painful. The reservations team took 7-9 days to reply to each email, sometimes only after I followed up. They became a bit more responsive in the week before our stay, but organizing everything was needlessly difficult. When we arrived, reception didn't even say hello. The keys were pushed at us, with no information about breakfast or where the facilities were, and no offer to help with our luggage. Other than breakfast, the food was overpriced, the selection wasn't great, and the taste was bland and forgettable. One night at da Mario, we waited 20 minutes for our leftovers to be packed, then left because it seemed the staff had forgotten us. At the Brasserie another night, the staff seemed annoyed to serve us. It was busy, to be fair, but our group felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. Food and drinks cost too much. Bring your own water bottles, or you'll pay 7,90€ for 0,5L of water. One night we requested two liters of water delivered to the room, and the bill came to nearly 40€ including service charge and tip. 😄

One of the best hotels in Germany, with a fantastic location, amazing staff and service, and one of the best breakfast buffets.
