Hotel Reiter Bräu

The Bavarian food was tasty, well cooked, and nicely presented, and the locally brewed beer was good too. We stopped for Sunday lunch during a cycling tour and were lucky to get the last table because the restaurant was busy. It gets quieter after 1:30pm. The menu has a good range of typical dishes at very reasonable prices. We had fried fish, mixed salad with shrimp, and pork with a potato dumpling and sauerkraut. We enjoyed the meal.

The fries were dry as wood and had no salt, and the cordon bleu was unseasoned and fried in old oil. The burger was bad too, with a soggy bun, bland meat, tomatoes and salad that seemed three days old, and onions that were far too sweet. The steak we ordered through Lieferando was awful, completely unseasoned, like they’d just killed an animal and served it. The side salad was so bad I don’t even want to get into it. One of our worst food experiences. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. It’s overpriced and bad in general.

The green space beside the hotel was lovely, full of flowers, and downtown was very close by. I stayed here for a couple of days while visiting my mom from Canada. It’s a beautiful place, with really friendly staff and very clean rooms. Breakfast was free, fresh, and incredibly delicious. I’d recommend staying here.

The beer was reasonably priced at €2.90 each. We tried Hefe-Weisse and Dunkel Weisse, both looked good but were pretty average compared with others. When we visited on Sunday 18th October 2020, it was quiet and didn’t have much atmosphere. The staff were pleasant, though they didn’t really engage with us, maybe COVID-19 played a part. Spacing and compliance with COVID-19 rules were very good. The Gasthof and Brauerei are in the village centre, with parking beside them. Inside, the Gasthof is large and traditional, and the staff dressed traditionally too. We sat apart from the guests by the bar, with a wall of stacked firewood dividing the room. There were toilets downstairs and other rooms off to the side, including, as I recall, one with a pool table. We cycled there. Wartenberg is rural, so a car, bike, or walking may be the easiest way to get there. Public transport is also possible: take the S-Bahn to Erding and then the 501 bus, or a regional train from HbF to Moosburg followed by the 501/502 bus. It was fine, but I’d probably try other places before coming back.
