Hotel Victoria

The price is cheap, the location is good, and the place is clean. But the room and toilet are very small, and the bed is so uncomfortable that you don't sleep well. I arrived an hour before check-in and had to wait outside because the hotel was closed and nobody was at the desk. They also wouldn't extend checkout from 11 to 12 or 1, something most hotels routinely allow. Often there was no one at the desk to help.

The WiFi was weak in my room, causing occasional connection problems, and I found the breakfast options a little limited. Even so, the service and atmosphere made it a worthwhile stay. Hotel Victoria was comfortable and convenient as a base for exploring Weil am Rhein, with easy access to local attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, and the staff were friendly and attentive, which gave the experience a personal touch.

A quiet place with nice rooms for the price. The shower is big, and the bathroom was very clean, though I did find some hair in the bed. There was no air conditioning, so it was warm at night, but not too bad. After a very hot day, I'd recommend choosing a room below the top floor.

The sound insulation was awful. We could hear everything happening in the building. The internet was also a mess: there are three routers, and although the connection showed as active, there was no WiFi. I went to the receptionist, who explained a few things. When I asked her to check her own phone, she saw it was connected with no internet too. She turned the router off and on again, and then it worked. Hygiene was dreadful. In the middle of the night I had to look for toilet paper because there wasn't enough in our double room. There was dust and a bad smell, and the bed sheet was the worst I've ever seen in a hotel. The tram ride from Basel SBB takes 32 minutes. The receptionist was unhelpful from the start and spoke in a way that could ruin your holiday in a minute. When I left with my girlfriend, she embarrassed us with unexpected remarks. On the first day I decided not to review the place because I thought she might be upset or stressed. But when we were leaving, she kept up the same unsocial, second-class attitude, and I felt I had no choice but to write this. The owner should improve the receptionist's behavior, hygiene, stock levels, internet, and sound insulation. Reception work calls for someone courteous and friendly who understands basic manners and knows how to value customers.
