Hotel Bellevue

We ended up here after forgetting to book a room in the town where we had a gig. This hotel just outside town turned out to be a real blessing. I slept like a baby, and I badly needed that rest. The kitchen was fantastic, the food was great, and the service was good. The evening view and sunset were phenomenal. The rooms have that early 80s to early 90s old-fashioned look, with wood panelling everywhere. There’s no AC, though the hilltop air is cool and fresh, so it wasn’t needed.

The restaurant was closed on Monday evening, so after a long trip we had to go look elsewhere for food. Most staff were friendly, but one person at reception on June 17, an older blonde woman, mocked guests, apparently thinking they didn’t speak German. It doesn’t feel like a proper four-star hotel. There’s a Dyson remote air conditioning system, but it doesn’t really cool the place down. If I ever considered coming back, I’d remember that experience.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It didn’t feel worth 100 euros, and I only managed about four hours of sleep. The bed was tiny, I could feel every spring and kept knocking my hand against the wall. I tried the floor for a while, then spotted a huge spider. Getting there was a pain too. I searched Marburg on Booking and this place came up, but it was actually in a small town in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by houses and a closed church. The bus only comes once an hour, so I took a taxi for 25 euros for a five-minute ride. If you have a car, you might enjoy the quiet and the emptiness around it. The receptionist was sort of nice. I went inside for dinner and waited ten minutes without anyone coming to take my order, so I left hungry and disappointed.

Had dinner here. The food and service were good, and the view was lovely.
