The food was a hit with everyone at our table, and nobody left anything on their plate. Service and the interior were just as good. This traditional Thüringen restaurant is tucked into central old Weimar, with plenty of seats inside and outside and room for bigger families or groups. The old timber framing looks stunning on the exterior and carries through inside. If you want fine local food somewhere special while in Weimar, this is a great choice. We’d definitely go again.

I stopped for lunch outside after coming across this lovely place while walking through old Weimar. The timber building was beautiful, and there are several floors. I imagine it’s fun in the evening when it’s full. The waitress was attentive and very nice, the service was prompt, and the fresh food was delicious. The beer was good too, so I had two.

The traditional house has been fitted with modern facilities, and I had an excellent experience. I wasn’t keen on the printed paintings in the room, though. With Weimar’s rich history and all the fine art at Goethe's Museum, it feels like a missed opportunity.

The service was awful both times I tried this restaurant. On my first visit it was empty, but after sitting outside for 15 minutes without anyone serving us or bringing a menu, we got up and left. I gave it another try today with a group of five, and things were worse. The waitress brought just one menu and left the dirty glasses from previous customers on our table. When more friends arrived, we went inside ourselves to get extra menus because she never came back. We waited another 15 minutes without any sign of staff coming outside to take our order, then left again. Avoid it if you value your time.
