Best Western Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof

The staff and housekeeping crew are wonderful, and the rooms are spacious and really quiet, even when the hotel is pretty full. I've stayed here twice on business trips to Germany, and this is the nicest hotel I've stayed at, much nicer than any American hotel. I'll stay here every time I come to Weimar.

The staff were extremely unfriendly and arrogant. They treated you like you were disturbing their day instead of welcoming you as a guest. Don't pay for valet parking. Apparently, that means you park the car yourself and then walk five minutes back to the hotel entrance. When I asked whether that was normal, the staff showed no respect and were extremely arrogant. At €250 a night for a suite, I can take my money to one of the other nice hotels in this city.

The only thing that really disappointed me was the parking. I was baffled to be charged €21 per night, since most hotels offer free parking for guests. The reception is probably the most expansive I've seen in any hotel I've stayed at, and I loved it. It gives you a grand-style welcome as you come in, and accessibility is quite good. My room was on the fourth floor. The lift had a gold-shining look that made you feel like the King of Persia 🤣, but don't take my word for it! There was a comfortable queen-size bed, a fridge with a complimentary bottle of water, and laundry and ironing facilities. The bathroom was clean and smelled nice, with two wall mirrors and a hairdryer. Nothing exceptional, but just what I expected.

The hotel is beautifully styled and sits in an excellent location by Goethe plaza, right in the center. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms feel open, with big beds and wardrobes. There's a nice, comprehensive sauna area, and breakfast is served in a beautifully decorated salon with a piano.
