The chef came out to introduce his dishes himself, clearly proud of what he’d made. The service was warm and attentive, and the seasonal food was fresh, thoughtfully prepared and full of care. This cozy, family-run restaurant beside the castle feels like slow food should, with nothing mass produced. A charming surprise and a real hidden gem. I’d come back to Wernigerode just to eat here again.

The owners are lovely, and the apartment was very nice and clean. For a holiday rental in high season, the price seemed reasonable, especially with a view of the castle. I’d recommend staying here.

Google showed it as open, but it was closed at 3 pm. A waste of time.
