Gerlinde made our stay at Villa Uhlenhorst so special. Each morning we had a fantastic home-cooked breakfast on the porch, with homemade jam, and her local tips really added to our trip. The rooms were thoughtfully decorated and spotless. The place feels absolutely magical, and I can't say enough good things about it. We visited in summer, though I can imagine it would be enchanting in winter too. I hope we can come back one day.

We spent four nights at Villa Uhlenhorst, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful, beautiful base for exploring Wernigerode and the Harz. Frau Heim is attentive and helpful, and makes the house feel wonderfully cozy and homely.

The owner puts real care and thought into the details of this lovely place. The rooms are beautiful, breakfast is great, and the home sits just a little off the beaten path. It is a bit pricey.

Gerlinde and Thorsten are warm, welcoming hosts who are always ready to help plan things to do nearby. They also put care into preparing and presenting breakfast. The park-like garden is a lovely place to relax, and the historic villa has been restored with great care in its original style, from the stucco and wainscoting to the interiors. Staying at Villa Uhlenhorst feels like stepping back in time, a wonderfully unique way to spend a holiday in Wernigerode.

At night, all we heard was nature, with no traffic or city noise, and an owl called twice. Our balcony in the “Fairy Tales & Legends” room had a fantastic view. We spent a few days in the Harz Mountains and this place was worth the extra few euros. The house and room were lovingly renovated and furnished, the staff were extremely friendly, and breakfast was delicious. It felt relaxing, almost like stepping back in time.
