Hotel Blocksberg

We were glad our dogs were welcomed too, with friendly smiles. The staff were attentive and very friendly, and the breakfast buffet was generous and delicious. Everything we wanted was there, and items were replenished regularly, so even at 9:00 a.m. the selection was still complete. We’d definitely return. Best wishes to the whole team, and have a relaxing Christmas season. The hotel is quiet and just outside the city, but Wernigerode’s old town is easy and quick to reach by car. There’s ample parking right at the hotel. Our room looked a little dated but was clean and completely adequate for a stopover. The reception area and dining room were especially inviting.

After our car broke down on Friday evening, this hotel came to the rescue. We got a lovely room with a balcony, plus a warm, generous, delicious dinner. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and our children had a great time too. It’s child-friendly, and we highly recommend it. We’ll definitely stay here again. Keep up the good work.

It was my birthday, and the evening was completely ruined. We’d hoped for a pleasant night and good food, but we were so disappointed that neither of us can imagine booking a table here again. There was only a buffet, which would normally have been fine, but the food and its presentation were a disgrace for a hotel. The choices were fish, chicken breast, and smoked pork loin. Spätzle was the only side, with no sauce or other options. The vegetables were just boiled cauliflower and broccoli, and the food was cold. Others complained too. We were told another large party also needed to be served. Why take reservations if the restaurant can’t provide decent, hot food? We’ve never had an experience like this anywhere else. We won’t forget this disappointing birthday dinner, and we’ll book somewhere else in the future. We can’t recommend them.

We stayed for three days and were glad to leave on departure day. Everyone was ready to go home, and none of us will return to this “hotel.” In my opinion, it doesn’t deserve to be called one. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, but the heating in our room was off for a day and a half, despite the freezing weather outside. On our first evening, we were told to leave the restaurant/bar at 9 p.m. The next day we found out drinks were actually served until 10 p.m. The following night there was a buffet, with more than half the hot dishes served cold. When someone in our group raised it the next day, they offered a complimentary shot to make up for it. We thought that was ridiculous.
