Hotel Restaurant Germania

The main courses were a letdown, though the appetizers were great. They forgot the children's meal, and even with our glasses empty, nobody came to check on us. The restaurant wasn't very busy then. These things happen, but it's still a shame.

There was plenty of delicious food, and the staff were friendly and happy to handle all our requests. Great restaurant, highly recommended.

The fish solyanka and sauerkraut tasted good, but the asparagus and potatoes were barely salted, and the potatoes were undercooked. They first questioned that, then agreed and said they'd cook them longer. A small espresso or something as compensation would've been nice. Oh well, the coffee machine was probably already clean ;-) The atmosphere was great, but the service wasn't attentive. On Sunday evening, the two men behind the bar seemed more interested in chatting and gossiping than looking after guests. You had to ask for the menu, and they didn't know some of the dishes and drinks listed on it. A guest sitting outside was ignored, then came in to get his own beer and was told, "We're already closed outside." Dessert after 9 p.m. wasn't an option either. Plates and drinks were passed across the table.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I started with solyanka, one of the most delicious I've had. For the main course, I had herring with mashed potatoes, plenty of onions, and cucumber salad. My wife chose the beef roulade with red cabbage and a large dumpling. We were both so full afterward that we couldn't get to the tempting dessert selection.
