Parkhotel Altes Kaffeehaus

The breakfast buffet was very good, and the hotel itself was fine. The rooms were definitely clean, though a bit spartan. The trouble was the heat: it felt like 40° C, and we couldn’t open the window because of yellowjackets outside. With no simple screen to keep them out, we had to leave it shut. There’s no air conditioning either, so we didn’t sleep well.

Breakfast was excellent and a really welcome way to start the day. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the bathrooms lovely. Parking is limited, but there’s a pay-and-display lot across the road that’s free from 6pm to 9am. The hotel seems to be partway through modernisation. The restaurant and hallways are done, and the bathrooms have clearly been updated, but the bedrooms still need work. The beds were comfortable and warm, though the carpet and cabinets could use replacing.

It’s a lovely, traditional German hotel with a great restaurant. Everything was clean, and the staff and service were lovely. Mornings can be noisy when guests leave doors to slam and wake you up. Reception might want to mention it to people when they arrive.

The restaurant is bright and airy, and breakfast is okay. The rooms are comfortable, but some feel a bit dated. There’s no fridge, and the only safe is a locking drawer.
