Getting the room key was a whole quest, which I especially enjoyed. The rooms are clean, warm, cozy, and have what you need. I liked the vintage feel, it gives the place its charm. I liked everything. Thank you!

My family has known this place for years, though this was my first visit. We stayed one night and arrived after reception had closed. The keys and email instructions for collecting them and getting into the building were all ready, and the whole arrangement was very thoughtfully organized. The location beside the park is lovely, and it’s fairly close to the bus stop. Breakfast was included and better than we expected, with options like cereal or bread. The room was alright, with somewhat dated furniture. If you just need somewhere to stay for a night and aren’t looking for the most modern style, it’s perfectly fine. I also really liked the antique decorations and wooden frames in the breakfast room.

We eventually got checked in, but it took several calls and trips back outside to the so-called reception. We had booked for two people through booking.com, yet the room we were first given had only one bed. They hadn’t checked how many guests were staying, so we had to call again and go back for the right key. At first, nobody was there. The reception area was dark and empty, so we called the number from booking.com to ask how to get in and find hotel staff. Someone working remotely couldn’t locate our booking at first. After about ten minutes of searching, they found it, or decided to let us in. We also hadn’t received the code by email that we needed to get the key from one of the wall lockers, so that took another ten minutes. With service this unprofessional, I can’t recommend the hotel. We expected an old place, but the whole check-in quest was unpleasant. There was free parking, and it was quiet, probably because not many people were staying there.

The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable, with good quality linen, though the rooms don’t have the same character as the public areas and could use some tidying, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s an attractive traditional building in a lovely setting by the park and castle, easy to reach from the motorway, with good parking. The shared areas inside have plenty of character and charm.
