Haus Gohlke am See

Apartment 4 had everything we needed, and we spent three lovely, relaxing days there. The house was quiet, with very friendly and helpful hosts, and communication was always excellent and warm. There’s a shop right next door open around the clock, with all sorts of things, including delicious Allgäu specialties. The apartment was beautiful and clean, in a fantastic location, with an unparalleled lake view. We felt on holiday as soon as we arrived and would love to return.

We stayed in September 2025. The location, parking, and bike storage were very good, but the many small problems left us feeling the place was run with a minimalist, profit-focused approach rather than care. Apartment No. 5 is awkward for anyone over 1.80m (5'11"), since the sloped ceilings by the kitchen and bathroom entrance are low enough to hit your head on. The sink and shower are tiny, the shower door won’t close properly, and showering leaves the bathroom floor flooded. There’s no shower mat. The Wi-Fi details on the information sheet are wrong, and there’s no TV manual or channel list. The plastic table edges are sharp, the overall cleanliness is questionable, there’s green algae on the kitchen skylight and roof terrace tiles, the kitchen supplies are very basic, and the kettle strainer is filthy. There’s no clothes rack or wall hooks either. Afterward I told the landlord about these issues and suggested a couple of comfort improvements, including two loungers on the terrace and a second key for the apartment. The reply was rude and not customer-oriented at all. We won’t spend another vacation here.

We loved the area and the view straight over the lake and mountains, and the key box made arrival really flexible. At Haus Gohlke am See in Hopfen am See, our apartment was beautifully furnished and decorated, and we felt at home right away. We stayed at the beginning of June. I’d take off a star for cleanliness: there was milk residue from previous guests in the fridge and crusted mess on the bathroom toilet seat. Our attic apartment also made unpacking difficult, though that wasn’t the host’s fault, so next time we’d choose the ground or first floor. Our little Maltese dog was welcome and felt right at home too 🥰. We’d definitely stay again.

Contact with the Gohlke family is always easy, and booking goes smoothly. We’re already looking forward to coming back next November. We’ve stayed at Haus Gohlke am See for years, in different apartments, and have always been very happy. They’re comfortable and have everything you need for a holiday. There’s a village shop and bakery next door, plus plenty of restaurants within walking distance for all tastes and budgets.
