Hotel Simonshof Wolfsburg

The room was clean, and the VW plant is nearby. But the furniture felt old fashioned, and there was literally nothing in the room, not even a bottle of water or a fridge, to justify the price. I was put up in a business room for 126 euros a night. If you want to experience the 90s in GDR, this is the place.

Surprisingly good breakfast, and everything was very clean. The rooms are really dated, though, and some fixtures are run down. Internet was problematic. It's a typical German roadside hotel, and I'd recommend the location only if you're travelling by car.

The receptionist the next day was kind and moved me to a proper hotel room, which was very comfortable. That's why I gave two stars, she tried to protect the hotel's image after the first guy had damaged it. I stayed two nights. On the first night, the receptionist gave me a room that was nowhere near hotel standard. Things in the bathroom were broken, the water heating didn't work, and the walls looked a hundred years old, even though there were only two guests.

I only stayed because everything else around Wolfsburg was booked. It's a typical German roadside hotel with modern rooms, but the prices felt overrated. The internet was poor, the heating didn't work, and the TV remote had issues. The hotel provided a portable heater, which was very helpful.
