We spent a week here, and the walk over the dike straight to the mudflats was hard to beat. The food is very good, and the staff are super friendly. The rooms are a little dated, but a week’s stay is still quite comfortable. Room cleaning and fresh towels were excellent. There are two nice outdoor terraces, including one that’s covered. Thanks for the week!

At the Wednesday lunch buffet, we arrived at 1:15 p.m. and found just one fish fillet left. We were told more were meant to be coming, but then the kitchen announced it had run out and the three of us would have to share that one. The noodles were nearly dissolved in the water, and the Asian stir-fry had become an unrecognizable mush. There was at least an edible starter soup, wilted salad, and an acceptable dessert, all for €14.90. Absolutely awful. Never again.

We had booked the Maschenhof for our September 2024 wedding, reserving the date in October 2023 after a detailed visit where the venue was presented to us and we were thrilled with it. As students, we had started planning a year ahead so we could find somewhere suitable and work out our budget. Now, just six months before the wedding, we’ve been told our confirmed date is canceled because of overbooking. We’re deeply disappointed by the unreliability and the disruption to all that careful planning. Finding another venue with so little time and limited availability is a huge burden, and we’re unsure we’ll find a suitable option. Our expectations have been dashed.

The Marschenhof is roomy enough to spend time indoors comfortably when the weather turns bad, and there are nice places to walk nearby. I’ve been here on my own and with groups of around 60 several times, and every visit has been excellent. The friendly, helpful staff add to it. The value is almost unbeatable, and the mostly German food is so good that my grandmother and mother, both fantastic cooks, couldn’t have done better. The themed buffets are great, with soup, lots of main dishes and sides, a salad bar, and a dessert buffet.

The seminar accommodation is a bit dated, though spotless, and the mattresses and pillows could use an upgrade. Still, we had peace and quiet, a lovely setting, and fun together after productive days. The Marschenhof has excellent value for money and is a great place to hold a seminar. Everything else was top-notch. The seminar room had all the equipment, from the projector to the moderator’s kit, and the staff were a wonderful team. We felt genuinely welcomed as guests. We had full board, and the food was so good we became addicted. There’s plenty to do, with billiards, table tennis, bowling, a bar, and the nearby dike. We barely had time for a walk. Thank you, dear Marschenhof team!
