Central Hotel Garni

We stayed in a street-facing room, and the street noise was hard to ignore. The rooms are clean but spartan, and reasonably priced, though definitely not luxurious. The location is a real plus for walking around the Altstadt, the Old City: Marienkapelle, the market in Marienplatz, Falkenhaus, and the Dom are nearby, and Alte Brücke is an easy walk. There are also lots of wonderful restaurants close by. Breakfast is included and was good, with a nice range of cold cuts and cheeses, stuffed eggs, Würstsalat, cherry tomato halves in an herbed vinaigrette, olives, feta cubes, mozzarella balls, different breads and jams. The breakfast room staff who helped with coffee were very polite and helpful, unlike the front desk staff. The two photos below were taken in the breakfast room.

The room was clean and food value, and the hotel is right in the center. Reception were really helpful: I had my bicycle sent there in a box, and they kept it safe until I arrived. The young concierge found a secure spot where I could put it back together, then store it overnight in the foyer. First class service!

Lovely hosts and a great hotel. They fitted four of us on motorbikes, and the bikes were safely stored in an underground garage. I’d never used a vehicle lift before, so that was a win too.

Right in the centre of town, with friendly staff. Breakfast is €12.50, and the car elevator down to the basement is pretty cool. Just don’t bring a long car.
