Four Points Flex by Sheraton Copenhagen City

The room was shockingly small, even by NYC standards. I had room 117, and the bed layout made what little space there was feel even tighter. I could barely do push-ups. There was no coffee, tea, kettle, fridge or utensils, just a room. You get what you pay for. On the plus side, the hotel was clean and safe, and the staff were friendly and professional. Someone was always there, so I never had to worry about forgetting my key card. The location is great, close to the train station and many tourist sites.

The breakfast was poor compared with the Copenhagen's Arena location, where I stayed for three days. Here, only one person was working, the layout was bad with items scattered around, and the selection was very limited. Management should visit the Arena location for some pointers. My first impression took a hit when I was charged 150 K for checking in two hours early. Mentioning my Marriott Bonvoy membership to the front desk made no difference. The room also lacked a basic kettle and the usual hotel items, and the shower pressure was weak.

The staff were kind, caring and professional throughout, and the receptionist checked me in even though I arrived early. I spoke with three receptionists, and all of them were great. Despite that, I wouldn't stay here again. My first room was spacious and nice, but extremely cold. Turning the heat all the way up barely helped. The receptionist moved me to a much smaller room, where the ineffective heater made things only just bearable. In the morning, the shower had no warm water at all, only cold. I raised it with reception, but there was no solution, so I checked out and found another hotel. The receptionist was kind again and apologized. The rooms were cold and there was very little hot water.

The location worked well for me, about ten minutes on foot to Tivoli gardens, thirty to Nyhavn, and very close to the train station. The room was extremely basic, as expected, but the price felt high for somewhere so hostel-like. I've stayed at about 15 Marriotts this year, and this was by far the worst. Next time I'd pay more for a nicer hotel. Still, it's adequate if location matters most and basic accommodation is fine. It was okay for one night, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. The place felt dirty, and the shower was just a curtain separating the toilet from the part of the floor with a drain. The whole bathroom floor got soaked, which was unpleasant. They were strict about no early check-in. That's fine and didn't affect my rating, though as a Platinum Marriott member I've usually found noon check-in can be accommodated.
