Kanalhuset

The shared dinner was a nice way to meet the other guests, with communal tables and a shared menu before the meal. You check in and out at the bar, which has computer access for visitors. Breakfast is à la carte and relatively expensive compared with the rest of western Europe. Street parking is available, and a common parking app is the best way to handle it; we found parking expensive too, even compared with other capitals like Berlin. I spent two nights at the end of January 2026 with my daughter in a suite at this pleasant hotel and restaurant in Christianshavn, on a canal in southern central Copenhagen. It was beautifully furnished with traditional Danish pieces from the 1950s and 1960s, and had what you'd need for a longer stay: a washing machine, dryer, cooking stove, large fridge with freezer, and plenty of closet space. The beds were excellent and the hygiene facilities met the overall standard. My only criticism is that it lacked a long shoehorn, which is useful for older people. Overall, we had an excellent experience.

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I had an excellent meal at their communal dinner, which I believe they host every night. The location is fantastic, and the menu and service were outstanding. If you're going to Copenhagen, I'd recommend checking the hotel's website and reserving dinner for one of your nights in town.

The canal-side setting adds a little magic to this Copenhagen gem. Kanalhuset is beautifully designed and charming, with a warm, welcoming feel. The rooms are cosy and stylish, the staff are incredibly friendly, and dining communally made for a unique, memorable experience.

I stayed in apartments here and at hotel sanders in Copenhagen, which cost three times as much. I preferred this place by a large margin. It had a better location and much more local character, and the dinner was excellent. The morning coffee was great too. If you appreciate culture, stay here.
