Four Points Flex by Sheraton Lyngby

Breakfast was okay, but there wasn’t much comfort or much in the way of room facilities. Without a car, the location feels like the middle of nowhere.

There’s no AC, and opening the windows means putting up with a lot of noise. The iron was dirty, and the breakfast buffet layout was poor. That black angular metal shelf above the kitchenette counter in the picture is also really dangerous, its sharp corners are at head height. The place looks ugly.

The whole place felt like concrete and was depressing. Our room was tiny and so dark it was hard to see while getting dressed. There were no facilities to speak of, not even a bottle of water, and just one paper cup for us to share. Despite the huge gym, guests weren’t allowed to use it. We also had no internet unless we signed up for spam. Breakfast had no proper juice, rundstykker, or proper pastries. Finding the hotel was a mess. There were no signs saying it was a hotel, just a massive “Gym” sign at the entrance, so we spent ten minutes circling before deciding that must be the place. Parking was awful too. The receptionist first sent us to a cramped basement where the gates wouldn’t open, and we had to make a three-point turn in a six-metre-wide underground corridor. The food hygiene certificate still displayed was from the previous owner, who had been replaced more than two years earlier. It was more than two years out of date, whatever name was on it. The machine drinks were half sugar and disgusting. The “pastries” were coin-sized, machine-made pieces from an assorted supermarket box. Nobody told us we could use the gym, even at a discount. There were absolutely no rundstykker. Grovboller, yes, but those aren’t rundstykker.

The laundry setup was the worst part: both dryers they offered were broken, so we had to hang our clothes around the room. The shower design was ridiculous too, water went all over the bathroom no matter what we tried. It did have a nice temperature, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was the same each morning for six days and nothing special. The hotel sits right by the freeway, with almost constant noise, but the rooms were too hot to keep the windows shut. Staff were polite but seemed disengaged, maybe because of poor management. Nobody seemed to enjoy working or staying there. We spent 15 days travelling around Zealand, and of the seven places we stayed, this was easily the worst. It doesn’t represent the rest of our Denmark trip. We won’t stay in a Four Points Flex again.
