Svostrup Kro

The staff were wonderful with the kids, and the food was excellent. It was an authentic Danish food experience, and a dinner we’ll remember.

The food at breakfast was gorgeous, with plenty to eat, and the house red wine was lovely. Our room was warm and comfortable. We stayed for three nights and would happily come back. The staff went above and beyond when we needed to move our pre-booked evening meal to another day, and made it easy to sort out. I didn’t enjoy my own evening meal, but that was down to my choice rather than the food itself.

The staff were cheerful and friendly, and it was clear they enjoyed working there. Thanks so much to Dragan and his team. We had clean, comfortable rooms in a calm, peaceful setting. The food was excellent from breakfast through supper, with much of it grown by them or sourced locally. I especially liked the open sandwiches and homemade akavit. It’s a fantastic historic hotel in some of Denmark’s most beautiful countryside.

You can still feel the original spirit of this river inn, where food and drink have been served since river barges carried goods along the Jutland waterways. The classic Danish dishes are high quality and fairly priced, and there’s a good choice of beer and spirits, including local brands you don’t see every day.
