The prices are on the high side, though I felt the ingredients, cooking, and whole experience made them worthwhile. This is somewhere to take your time over a meal, not rush through it. What stood out first was the service. The chef came around to chat with guests and make sure everyone was enjoying the meal, and the staff were impeccable. The food itself tasted as good as it looked: each plate was carefully arranged, with colors, textures, and aromas that made it a pleasure to look at. You could see the chef's care and enthusiasm in every dish. 🙂

The main course was glorious, perfectly cooked and balanced: pork tenderloin with sweetcorn, mushrooms, carrots, a potato croquette sphere, grated carrot, parsley, and rich gravy. Dessert was wonderfully over the top, a pear coated in dark chocolate with cream, crushed Madeleine, and more cream. It brought together sweet, bitter, crisp, crunchy, smooth, creamy, and sharp in one pudding. Our group of 24 came for a family reunion lunch. The service was amazing, with lovely explanations of the food and wine. I wasn't keen on the mushy trout, cauliflower, potato chip, and white sauce starter, though others loved it. The wines were all lovely too, from a light fizz and bright, fruity white to a smooth Italian red and a beautiful, light, sweet Moscati.

The staff were kind, attentive, and helpful, and Niels Bugges Kro has an intimate but modern feel between the lake and forest. The food gives traditional dishes a modern twist, with some success. At times, though, the presentation seems to get more attention than the taste.

The food was so good we're all still talking about it, and the service and staff were extraordinary. The restaurant is beautiful, updated with a minimal look while keeping the place's history and charm. The rooms are lovely and modern, and the location is really hyggelig. WOW....Just WOW....

Absolutely worth trying if you want delicious, high-end classic food with something for everyone. The inn's surroundings are beautiful, and dinner is served in two rooms by professional waiters.
