The beach’s black volcanic sand is lovely to look at, though swimming in the ocean isn’t advised because of the rip currents. We enjoyed the pool instead, and the location made it easy to get to hikes and waterfalls, including Jacko Falls. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, and the service was pleasant. We wished we’d had more time for the spa, gym, and nearby distillery. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Emerald Pool and Victoria Falls trips were highlights of our girls’ weekend. Odette, Iesha, Zahir, Surnita, and Dr Lamar were all wonderful to us, and the spa therapists were excellent. The on-site restaurant was lovely too, with fresh, delicious food. Don’t miss it!

Room 501 made it easy to get between the restaurant, pool, and everything else, and it was spacious and just right for us. We could relax on the shaded porch at the back, looking out toward the ocean and jungle growth. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived, and we enjoyed the stay so much that we added an extra day. Getting there at night was a little tricky since there weren’t really road signs, but it was worth it. We’d suggest unit 501 for its easy access to everything.

The setting was a big part of what made my five days so special. I loved unwinding in the riverside gazebo after exploring the island, with the lush gardens, lovely views, and black sand beach where the river meets the ocean. The resort is farther from some main attractions, but coming back each evening to such a quiet, peaceful place made the distance worthwhile. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, and the spacious, spotless rooms and cottages fit naturally into the surroundings. Breakfast is cooked fresh to order rather than served buffet-style, with a healthy, varied menu. Everything I tried was delicious. I also ate lunch and dinner there several times. The ceviche was excellent, the shrimp pizza was a favorite, and the piña coladas were perfect. The staff were kind and attentive, always ready to smile or offer a helpful suggestion. Shaneta deserves a special mention: she was so sweet and positive, and it was a joy seeing her in the mornings and afternoons while she was working. She made my stay feel even more special. I’d recommend Rosalie Bay Eco Resort if you love nature, peace, and taking things at a slower pace. It was a lovely place to relax and recharge in Dominica.

The staff are what really set Rosalie Bay Eco Resort apart. Danielle, Meelissa, and the other women at the restaurant brought so much warmth to the place. Odette, Aisha, and the Front Desk team were helpful and polite throughout. When I was laid up with a stomach bug for a day or two, they called my room several times to ask how they could help and brought me local fresh teas. I really appreciated how thoughtful and caring they were. Zahir was also a great guide, taking me to some stunning natural spots on six unforgettable tours. He’s on top of things and a great guy. I spent eight days there, and after deciding at the last minute to skip renting a car, I ate nearly every meal at the Leatherback Restaurant. The food was consistently fresh and good, with enough variety that I never got tired of it. Breakfast was delicious and complimentary, which seems to be getting rarer. Lunch, dinner, and the drinks were high quality too. I also loved the music they played, definitely my kind of jams. The property felt private, though the grounds are relatively small, so all the amenities were within a five-minute walk whichever unit you stayed in. There’s a sizeable, fully equipped gym, a solid pool for swimming or relaxing by, and a high-end Spa with plenty of services. The abundance of vibrant plant life across the grounds added to the peaceful, tranquil feel I was looking for. The Rosalie River runs just north of the property and meets the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Seeing the river meet the ocean was meaningful to me, and it felt serene. The beach along that shore is also where three to four species of sea turtles, including Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green, come each year to lay eggs. I didn’t get the “midnight knock” to wake me for a chance to see them, but maybe your luck will be better later in the egg-laying season. For a stay with relaxation, nature, and as much optional adventure as you want, I’d strongly consider Rosalie Bay Eco Resort. I didn’t see another place that seemed to offer nearly all of those qualities. I hope to return someday. It was a memorable stay.
