Hotel El Imperio Punta Cana

It's a hotel in the Punta Cana suburbs, and there isn't much to do around it unless you're heading to the beach. I'd get a rental car for evening activities. Zeus at the front desk can arrange the "Tambor & Guitarra Tour...Eternity." It takes you to a cigar factory, Maco beach, a market, Basilica Altagracia, the river area, and a little Dominican house, with nature, a gift shop, lunch, drinks, and transport included. I loved it, definitely worth it. Zeus was friendly and honestly exchanged US dollars for Dominican pesos. My room was huge and cozy, though some bathroom fixtures need fixing. The 40-inch LCD TV was 2K, but had no local channels. I couldn't download anything because my US accounts were restricted abroad. It has premium apps like Netflix and Hulu, but the free YouTube videos were boring. The hotel could use more entertainment, like music, a pool table, or a bar area. Breakfast was good but too light for me. I'd add more fruit or cereal, maybe a cream of the day. The American-style coffee was too weak for a Latino like me, and there was creamer or milk but only regular sugar. The only fruit drink was made from concentrate. Paladar Imperial is a small shop and fast-food place with a few sodas, crackers, water, and similar things. SANTA is lovely, cooks well, and does her best to look after you. The menu and stock are limited, and there were so many flies that the place really needs to get rid of them. Food prices are affordable for the hotel area, but the shop needs more variety, like muffins, milk, and chocolate. I really liked the courteous staff and quiet room. It seems they may be short-staffed and are doing their best with local prices, but that's just my opinion. Outside the hotel there are motorcycles and garbage everywhere, and the area feels dull.
