We had a really enjoyable vacation. The resort was a manageable size, with quick, easy check-in, and the wristband worked as the room key, which I liked since there was no card to lose or accidentally demagnetize by leaving it next to my phone. I’d asked by email about upgrading to an ocean view before we arrived, and that was taken care of by credit card. The grounds were lovely, with lots of palms, flowering shrubs, and a wide stretch of beach. Our room was fantastic and spotless. Food was good, especially breakfast, and the fruit was amazing. Booking the à la carte restaurants through the lobby kiosk was easy, and we enjoyed the food there too. The drinks could have been stronger, though. The lobby bar was a little better than the beach bar. After dinner we liked hanging out in the lobby with friends and listening to the entertainment. The theatre shows started a bit late for us. After a full day in the sun, we were ready for bed.

The beach was the best part, with beautiful blue water and miles of shoreline to walk in either direction. The hotel gardens were nice too, and one day they held a coconut party where fresh coconuts were free to drink. The location is great, with pretty natural spots along the beach and a few cool bars nearby. The peacocks were fun to see, but I did once spot one eating from an unattended plate on a table and pooping there, so they shouldn’t be in the food areas. The food was abysmal, easily the worst I’ve had. Buffet meat was badly overcooked and painfully dry, and the rest was bland. Breakfast was the only decent meal, thanks to the omelette station. The scrambled and boiled eggs weren’t worth having. The à la carte restaurants were no better: service was rude, miserable, and inattentive. The food was basically the buffet served on a plate. The beef carpaccio at the Italian restaurant was slimy and, as an Italian, I found it borderline offensive. I was worried it would make me sick. Staff generally seemed miserable, with no greetings or smiles. Ordering a drink sometimes felt like they were doing me a huge favor, and some were downright rude. I wonder if poor working conditions or bad management were behind it. Our room was old, dated, and looked like no thought had gone into the decor. It also wasn’t very clean, with mold and deep grime in places. We had to keep pushing to get it cleaned, and even after asking reception several times, it went three days without being made up. The shower barely had any pressure. If you want a beautiful beach on a budget, it might work, but you’ll probably want to eat out each night and avoid dealing with the staff. Then you might find a little piece of paradise 😊

Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable, and room service was as expected. The thermostat was frustrating, though, since we couldn’t set the temperature properly and the room got quite cold at night. The front desk suggested opening the balcony door to switch off the air conditioning. It worked, but it felt odd not being able to adjust the thermostat itself. We were there as a family of four with two children, and overall had a good stay. The pool was clean and well looked after, though some guests saved loungers despite the resort rules. The beach was nice, with a bit of sargassum. Bar and restaurant staff were attentive, and the local drinks were about standard for an all-inclusive. We mostly ate at the buffet, which had a nice range of food. Drink service there was inconsistent, and sometimes we got our own water or other drinks from vending machines, including coffee at breakfast. Staff did clear plates quickly and kept the tables clean. We also ate at the Mexican and Italian à la carte restaurants, where the food and service were both very good. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the resort.

Breakfast had plenty of choices for different tastes, and the restaurant served fresh, delicious meals. The hotel was conveniently located near shops and local attractions, while still feeling peaceful. I found the staff welcoming and professional, and they helped quickly with check-in. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. I appreciated the complimentary water, quality toiletries, and reliable WiFi. There was also a well-equipped gym and a relaxing spa area. It was good value and a comfortable, relaxing stay. I’d happily come back and recommend it.

At first I said I probably wouldn’t come back, but after we got familiar with the resort and got to know the regular staff, I’d stay there again. The staff were mostly very friendly, and Maria at the pool bars really won us over with her infectious smile and great attitude. She remembered people’s drinks and had only been at Vista Sol for four months, but was exceptional. The beach was fantastic, with plenty of loungers and the sports bar and restaurant nearby. You can walk for miles in either direction, and it’s beautiful. There are several pools too, so you can choose music and activities or just relax. The nightly entertainment was usually good. There weren’t enough loungers around the pools, though, so you had to get up early to get one. For a budget-friendly stay, the food was mostly good and the options matched the price. Fruit and vegetables were fresh and good quality at every meal, while the meat was usually bland and often tough. The à la carte places had good options, and everyone in our group found something they liked for dinner. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, although a couple had trouble with the air conditioning.
