Hotel Refugio Neptuno's

The staff and location are wonderful. The rooms could use an upgrade.

The cable TV wasn't working when we arrived, and there was no water because, I was told, the pump had stopped working. Outside the entrance, there was an open garbage dump and the smell that goes with it. I was travelling with my child and would have liked some quiet time with the TV, but that wasn't possible. Later I fixed the TV myself by correcting a loose coaxial cable, and the water came back, so we stayed the night. We also tried to eat at Neptunos restaurant across the way. It was an empty restaurant at 7 pm on Monday, but they wouldn't seat us by the water because we had a child. Another family with children was seated at the waterfront, while we were offered a spot by the reconstruction work at the back. We left and went elsewhere. At checkout, the card reader's connection was bad, so payment couldn't be made either. All in all, this was a crap place, and the restaurant in front was expensive and lousy. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We booked two nights for the weekend and had a good stay. The rooms were nice, the beds were perfect, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was included, and there’s free WiFi throughout the hotel. The staff were polite and helpful. It’s close to the beach, and a room at the front gives you a nice ocean view. There’s private parking at the hotel too. I recommend it if you want a few days in Boca Chica at an affordable price.

The location is excellent, and the arrangements were definitely nice. The AC worked great and kept the room cool. My concern was the bedroom windows, which had screens, wooden slats and blinds but couldn't actually be shut. Noise from birds, animals, workers, cars, drunk people and people smoking cigars or cigarettes outside came right in. That almost made me rate the hotel below four stars.
