The Boat House

You can step straight from your table into clear, warm water, swim, then come back for chinola, the local passion fruit drink. The water’s great for snorkeling, or sailing on windy days. It’s in the heart of Boca Chica, with a wonderful owner who’s happy to help. The food was great too. I tried breakfast, a fried chicken sandwich, garlic shrimp, and fried fish fillet, and everything was delicious.

The staff were great, the prices fair, and the food better than Punta Cana, sorry PC 🫶🏽. The dogs seemed like our protectors, barking at vendors who hovered too long. There were so many vendors approaching us while we ate that it got ridiculous. We do give, but people need to be able to enjoy their meal in peace. Still loved the place! 🤣

The Boat house has a nice shaded spot by the water, but breakfast was a frustrating experience. We arrived around 8.30am, when it wasn’t very busy, yet the menu had limited choices and it took nearly an hour to get eggs, sausage, mashed plantain, and cut vegetables. Our juice was forgotten, and they seemed confused when we said we’d ordered two. Guests who came after us got food sooner. They brought the wrong order, and by then I was just relieved to have something in front of me. They didn’t apologize and seemed annoyed. They’d brought toast I hadn’t ordered, then took it away and threw it out instead of letting me keep it. That’s just bad service. The food itself was tasty but nothing special, and the portions and prices were reasonable. I can’t recommend the place because of the service, though maybe they do better in the afternoon.

Good food for a great price, and the service was quick and good.
