I wanted somewhere quiet where I could listen to the waves all day, and that's what I got. The place is newly built, the grounds and pool are well maintained, and security is great. This area used to be an all-inclusive resort more than 20 years ago, and they've been working to restore it since 2022. A hidden gem for R and R if that's what you're after.

We love Cristamar. The beach is wonderful and almost deserted, and there's generally peace and quiet with little of that annoying moped rattling. The apartments are nearly new and well equipped, the Seguridad guys are super friendly, and the pool is kept in good shape. The setting takes some getting used to. It's a smaller complex a little outside Cabarete, surrounded by quite a few "ruins," and the infrastructure isn't great. A rental car is almost essential, unless you fancy some motoconcho or guagua adventures. For us, it's a paradise away from the bustle of Cabarete and Sosua.

Everyone was pleasant, and the place felt very safe and secure. We had a wonderful time, including at a bonfire, and would definitely do it again. Absolutely fantastic place!

Expedia's map location is false. It shows a five-minute walk to Cabarete Beach, but the walk is actually 53 minutes. The location of Cristamar ELISA is PJG9+W5X, 57000, Dominican Republic. The address shown on Expedia is in the photo I downloaded. It feels like they're misleading tourists into booking a condo listing that couldn't sell, leaving people like me to bear the loss. You lied! It's strange that Cristamar doesn't even appear on Google Maps when I click through Expedia's site. Hmmm.
