Hotel Caserma

We were visiting friends on the east side, and a friend from the US had been looking for an air bandb. He found this place, so we decided to spend the night. It turned out to be freaking fantastic, a real hidden gem. The price is very, very reasonable, and breakfast was included. Highly recommend it.

The food was really tasty and fresh. We stayed one night, and the room was big enough and clean, with a typical Caribbean style 😉 Only one man at reception understood English. The women in the restaurant didn’t 😉

I wouldn’t normally stay here, but the clinic included it in the price for my stay after hair transplant surgery. It was clean and nice, and close to the clinic. It’s not on the beach, though it is near golfing if that’s your thing.

After I accidentally left my keys in the car and drained the battery, a hotel clerk found jumper cables. They were quick and helpful, and I was grateful. The room itself was great, nicely decorated, with a two-burner stove and cookware. It had everything needed for a short getaway. The grounds were beautifully manicured, and the pool and hot tub were a nice touch. The location looked a little sketchy, but once we were on the property it was fine. We’d been on the water all day for an excursion in Bayahibe and were too tired to drive back to our Airbnb in Punta Cana, so we booked another Airbnb for one night. We had our own vehicle to avoid the long bus ride of about 1.5 hours. We wanted a pizzeria and hot water, both of which they advertised. Raymond, the night front desk clerk, was accommodating. When I asked, he gave me the Airbnb rate of $75, instead of the $83 he’d quoted when I arrived. I ordered a pizza to take to the room while I showered, but for some reason they couldn’t make one. I ordered a filet instead. It was cooked perfectly but had no flavor. They couldn’t make the chocolate lava cake either, so I got the tiramisu, which was okay. The shower water was cold. I let Raymond know at the front desk, and he came to check the room. It worked then, of course, but my friend’s shower was cold again in the morning. I mentioned it to the hotel front desk on our way out, and he assured me they had hot water.
